Countdown to Christmas Dec 4

Countdown to Christmas

This is my 5th Countdown, and now it’s finally December. But with that, it brings only 20 days until Christmas. 20 day! 3 weeks! 2 more Countdown Fridays! I don’t think my mom and I are ready. We still haven’t even packed my sister’s care-package yet! My sister has just started Christmas Shopping. Anyone else stressing out?

Let’s not freak out Michelle. Think happy thoughts. Right? Like how great it is to have such nice neighbors to volunteer to help put up your outdoor Christmas Lights. Or how cozy the weather is right now. California weather is just right, not too cold and (during Winter) not too hot. So here’s a Winter Wonderland Countdown to help others keep calm.

A Winter Wonderland

What’s a Winter Wonderland? I imagine it where the air is cold, so you must where warm clothes. Definitely some snow, not too much or it won’t be fun. And I think even the first snow is the best. And of course, playing in the snow like a kid, and building snowmen is a must. Or just looking at how the “Twinkle Lights” glow at night.

Books that I’ve read that have, not so much Christmas stuff, but lots of Winter stuff.

Heroes Are My Weakness Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Heroes Are My Weakness by Susan Elizabeth Phillips – “Deepest winter. An isolated island off the coast of Maine. A man. A woman. Puppets. (Yes, puppets…) And… A mysterious house looming over the sea…”

Comfort Mountain Winter

Comfort & Joy by Kristin Hannah – Plane crash in the snow capped mountains, with a touch of magical realism fantasy and Christmas.
The Mountain Between Us by Charles Martin – Plane crash in the snow capped mountain. Two people trying to survive and get out of danger.
Winter Dreams, Christmas Love by Mary Francis Shura – Young Adult book, takes place throughout a girl’s time in high school and romance with a boy. Her favorite season, Winter.

Dashing Starry Winter.png

Dashing Through the Snow by Debbie Macomber – Ashley and Dash try to travel from San Fransisco, Ca to Seattle, Wa. These two strangers take a road trip to try to get to Seattle before Christmas.
Starry Night by Debbie Macomber – Out in snowy Alaska, Carrie (a journalist) tries to get an interview with a reclusive author, Finn.
Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand – Elin Hilderbrand’s first Christmas novel: a family gathers on Nantucket for a holiday filled with surprises.

Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back.
Hoth planet. “There isn’t enough life on this ice cube to fill a space cruiser!” – Han Solo

(And if you’re not so much a Star Wars fan, there’s always The Family Guy Star Wars spoofs).

Mystery, Alaska (1999 film stars Russell Crowe, Burt Reynolds, Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Adam Beach, and Mike Myers as the sports commentator).
The NHL sends the New York Rangers to play a legendary local team in an isolated Alaskan town. The game is played on an open hockey field, on a frozen lake, at night – when it’s the coldest!

Winter Wonderland by Eurythmics

Winter by Tori Amos

Baby, It’s Cold Outside by She & Him

Violet Hill by Coldplay
