Back to the Future - #BTTF2015

Back to the Future Tag

I was tagged by Getting Through Anxiety. She made up her own BTTF Tag and questions here. (This tag was back in February and I really apologize for the delay but life got in the way). Great questions here and I like B.G.’s answers.

1.) Name a movie/book/show that makes you want to go back in time when you were younger and enjoy it all over again!

Baby Sitters Club Logo

The Baby-Sitter’s Club series by Ann M. Martin. Fear Street series by R. L. Stine. These books were favorites of mine. I didn’t read the entire series but I read a lot of them and really loved them.

Fear Street The New Girl RL Stine

2.) What’s your favorite sci-fi and or fantasy book/show/movie?

Back to the Future was the first Sci-Fi movie I watched. I like those movies but they aren’t my top favorite.

LotR Tolkien

Lord of the Ring and The Hobbit books were my first Sci-Fi/ Fantasy books. I read those before I knew about the movies. They are my favorite and the books are on my list this year to reread. After over 2 decades of reading them, I’m interested to seeing how I’ll like the books the second time around.

3.) What’s a moment in a book that takes place in the past or future that you’d like to visit?

Ready Player One Ernest Cline

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

This book takes place in the future, but there is this Virtual Reality computer program where they have avatars and all those game stuff. Within that computer program they are looking for an “Easter Egg” (Grand Prize) that has the game maker’s Will.

The Game is about everything from the 1980s, from computers, video games to movies and music.

Now I’m not much of a “gamer” but if there was a way to virtually experience some of these oldies but goodies, I’m there!

Ready Player One Ernest Cline Oasis

“I created the OASIS because I never felt at home in the real world. I didn’t know how to connect with the people there. I was afraid, for all of my life, right up until I knew it was ending. That was when I realized, as terrifying and painful as reality can be, it’s also the only place where you can find true happiness. Because reality is real.”
Ernest Cline, Ready Player One

4.) What’s a fictional store, cafe, etc. in a book/show/movie you’d like to visit?

Harry Potter The Leaky Cauldron

The Leaky Cauldron Pub and Inn. And of course all the other places in the Harry Potter world. The Leaky Cauldron first came to mind because how else can one get to Diagon Alley besides Apparition and Dragons.

5.) Name an automobile or way of travel in a book/show/movie that you’d like to take for a ride. What book/show/movie is it from?

I would say the Delorean (or the train) from Back to the Future, but I don’t know how to drive a car (yes, shocker, I’ll be 40 soon and I don’t know how to drive. But I don’t care so shrugs).

And then the Time Machine from the 2002 movie would be fun, but then the show The Big Bang Theory proved that wouldn’t go so well. After a while it would be an eye sore, plus there wouldn’t be any room in our house. And Penny also proves how silly having that big thing would be (she thought it looked like those boats used in swamps).

And flying on brooms like Harry Potter would be nice, but I’m afraid of heights.

So the most practical mode of transportation would be using Hobbit Feet. I travel a lot by foot when going places on my own. It’s a healthy way to travel. But finding shoes that can withstand my walks is hard to find. I so wish I had Hobbit Feet so that I could just walk barefoot.

6.) Favorite fictional scientist?

Doc Brown is awesome but right now it’s the guys (and woman) in The Big Bang Theory show. My favorite is Sheldon Cooper!

Here’s my favorite moment with him and his famous Bazinga moment. I’ve lost track on how many times I’ve watched this clip (and episode).
