Friday 56
I’ve been seeing these posts from various blogs that I follow and liked them because some have fun quotes within them. This is a Friday meme started by Freda @ Freda’s Voice.
Rules:
- Grab a book, any book.
- Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
- Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
- Post it.
- Add your (url) post below (on Freda’s Friday posts) in Linky. Add the Friday post url, not your blog url.
Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier
I attempted to read this 10 years ago when I was in the Navy during one of the deployments. It doesn’t help trying to read a redundant book while having redundant days. I thought I might like this because I liked the movie at the time, but it wasn’t helping with my mood at that time.
It’s now been collecting dust on my physical shelf waiting for a second chance. Should I give it one? Have you read this book? Thoughts?
“For all you could tell by their bearing, they might have been alone. They looked at the fire and said not a word and moved not one muscle in their faces as response to anything Monroe said.”
Quote from page 56. What do you think? Long sentences right?
Never heard of this, but it sure sounds like an interesting story. :O Sucks that it wasn’t exactly what you needed during your deployment. Maybe a second chance is due; on a brighter day? 😀

The movie was with Nicole Kidman, the actress that plays Bridget Jones (brain freeze right now), Jude Law and Jack White (from the White Stripes). It was a good movie

I liked the movie but not enough to read the book. Maybe if the author has something else, I may check it out. 🙂 Happy weekend!

I have heard that a lot of his writing is similar with the redundant style.

I’ve never read the book or watched the movie but I remember some of my friends being obsessed with both back in high school.

I did like the movie. I guess it was mostly because of Jude Law and Jack White.
