My Current Reads

My Current reads….

Hi all. A fresh start with 2017 has definitely helped my reading slump. I’ve read 10 books so far and I think I may be able to raise my Goodreads Book Challenge from 2016’s goal of 25 books.

Looking at all the books that I started reading last year but haven’t finished may be a little intimidating, but I’ve decided to tackle that pile on. It’s possible to get these books read if I read one book a month. And also I’ve been a mood reader, so sticking to just that one book will be a little difficult. Example I’ve been rereading Jane Eyre off and on for a year now, and even the thought of finally seeing that new movie hasn’t helped me finish that book. But I’ll still try.

In my last Instagram post I mentioned how difficult it is to be a mood reader sometimes. It’s mostly difficult for me because I don’t have that many did-not-finish (dnf) books. When I’ve read more than two chapters, I have usually decided then if I want to read the book or not, so if I decide not to read it I don’t feel guilty and felt that I’ve at least given the book a chance. So that photo up there is my current read, will finish reading soon, and hopefully will get back to reading sometime this year books. And I have been reading pretty good lately so I’m not intimidated by that pile.

Current Reads for March

I’m currently reading three books this month: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling, Rogue One (a Star Wars story) by Alexander Freed, and Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

I’ve been working on rereading the Harry Potter books since last year. I even attempted a Harry Potter Read-Along to help speed things along. Well I didn’t get that many other people reading the books along with me and my reading slump wasn’t helping either. Luckily I’ve found other read-along to check out and also the audiobooks. Hooray for audiobooks! So now I’m currently reading Order of the Phoenix. And OMG I don’t know if I can finish this book soon because I am really really really disliking Dolores Umbridge! She’s reminding me so much of the current bs politics right now and it’s just sooo maddening!!!!!! Really! arrggggg

Oh Anne. Dear Anne of Green Gables. This book has been on my tbr for the longest time, ever since my pre-teen years when my parents tried to get me to read the books. I wasn’t interested then but now I am. Or I thought I was two years ago when I first started reading the book. But now I’m making progress. Anne isn’t an annoying little chatterbox like I first thought and also her joy has been helping with my mood sometimes.

And Rogue One!!!!! This book is based off the screenplay but I really don’t mind because it’s just soooo good right now. I’m on chapter 2 right now and reading the characters point of view is just so awesome! I’m really loving this book!!! And yes, I’ve already watched the movie on Fandango streaming once so far and will of course watch it again and again. I’ll never get tired of this movie I think. It’s my favorite of ALL the Star Wars movies!!!

Big thank you to all my followers and friends

I have been absent for a long time(I seem to have gained 100 followers in my absence too. Wow!).

I was a care-taker for my Grandfather for about 10 years. He passed away a month ago at the age of 87. It’s been hard for me but now I’ve just been focusing on one thing at a time. I’ve been Bookstagramming for the longest time on Instagram (MichelleBookAddict). I have been posting photos every day and making quick notes about whatever is on my mind. The friends I’ve met on Instagram have been awesome because lately my thoughts have been pretty random, even if I’ve only been talking about books. Like right now… I know that I’m just rambling on here, but I’ve felt comfortable in doing that with my photos.

Now my photo captions on Instagram have gotten a lot longer to the point that sometimes I almost run out of characters. So I’m going back to blogging. Or at least gives this a try. One thing for sure is that expressing one self is always helpful, especially when you’re depressed and grieving like I have been.

Oh and thank you to my family too. Books and movies have been a nice distraction, but my family and my dog Peanut have been awesome too.

New Look

PS Please check out my blog. I’ve revamped all my blogs. Fresh new start and feeling good about it.

  1. Good luck with the Good Reads challenge! I stuck the arbitrary 30 down as a target. I’m on track (just) but may have to add a couple of very short (and easy read) novellas to the pile as there are a few too many 400-500 page novels!

  2. Sorry for your loss Michelle. Best of luck on your Goodreads Challenge. I raised my Goodreads books this year and somehow the last month has been a seesaw of starting 4 different books and just not being interested so I put down my Kindle and picked up a physical book, Illuminae and so far, its pretty cool. I’m planning on re-reading Anne of Green Gables.

  3. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandfather. I lost my Great-Grandmother last month too. She was 99 years old! It’s never easy losing a loved one that has been such a big part of your life.

Nice to see you will be around more in the blogosphere! I look forward to your future posts 🙂

I voted AoGG because it has also been on my TBR for as long as I’ve had a TBR lol
