I love the Autumn season, maybe about the same as I love Summer. I am a mood reader so the genres of books I read varies. Right now I’m reading about 6 or so books, 3 of them I started reading many months ago. There’s just so many books that I want to read and it’s so tempting to start a new book even though I’m already working on finishing others. My goal now is to at least finish 1 book before I start another one. It’s just been even more tougher because I’m ready for Autumn right now! I don’t want to wait for the solstice or for October, I want it now! Who else is with me on all the Autumn vibes?
The books I’m currently reading is this:
The books I have been reading off and on this year: Emma by Jane Austen, Moby Dick by Herman Melville and Jaws by Peter Benchley.
Books I started reading in September: Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams for my Netgalley tbr. And also started rereading Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella for the movie release this weekend. Hoping to finish my reread before I see the movie.
As for Autumn Reads: I’ve started rereading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. I started rereading the series back in January of 2018. I’m now finally started rereading the 6th book in the series. I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to reread the books. It took me about 5 months just to reread Order of the Phoenix. I finally finished that book in January of this year. The 5th book in the series makes me so angy! It’s because of Dolores Umbridge and I see her in so many politicians today it just makes me sick. I now just started the reread of Half-Blood Prince for some Autumn vibes which always gives me all the feels. So far the reread is going smoothly.
As for my Autumn tbr, I have a long list and it just keeps getting bigger. The first thing that is on my tbr is a classic book. The past few years I’ve been reading a classic gothic horror book, like Dracula, The Canterville Ghost, Jane Eyre, and last year was a reread of Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights. This year I am going to read Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. I love the 1941 movie with Spencer Tracy. I really like watching the old movies on the Turner Classics channel and love when they have all the old classic horror movies on for October, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde being a good one to see.
Other Autumn vibe books that I am hoping to read is rereading The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury of course. This will be my 4th reread during October I think. I also hope to read The October County by Ray Bradbury. And then there’s Joe Hill, Gary Hendrix, Caravel series (for the #ReadGushTheGame read-along), Riley Sager, and R.L. Stine. I love Stine’s Fear Street books, so this year I’ve got his Goosebumps books on my tbr.
