Throwback Thursday Reviews

A Thursday theme of mine here where I’ve been posting some of my old reviews.

This week is from a book I read and reviewed in January 2014.

Mr. Darcy Forever by Victoria Connelly

Mr Darcy Forever by Victoria Connelly

(Austen Addicts series: Book 3)

3 out of 5 stars ★

This is the third Austen Addicts book in the series. I read the previous book Dreaming of Mr. Darcy and liked it. I attempted at reading this in 2013. But I wasn’t enjoying it and decided to temporarily set it aside for later. I do have a habit of reading a chapter or two and then stopping to read something else. But I do try to get back to the book. Continue reading “Throwback Thursday Reviews May 2nd”

This week is from a book I read and reviewed back in February 2014.

Getting Warmer by Carol Snow

Getting Warmer by Carol Snow

Getting Warmer in Arizona 4 out of 5 stars ★

Natalie Quakenbush is a quirky character. Even her last name is odd and is even picked on by her students behind her back (though she still knows about it). It’s a cute chick lit romance. It was just a little predictable. What I liked about this was that it centered more around the main character, Natalie. She’s 29 and fearing turning 30 (wasn’t so long ago I had those days, and my youngest sister just passed that. Made fun saying that she’s now 3 decades old). This week is an old movie review to a French film. Watched and reviewed in November 2013.

Populaire

Populaire

5 stars ★ and loved it ♥

2012 French movie

I really loved this movie. I watched it on my kindle with Netflix streaming (on the app). It’s a romantic comedy in the late 1950’s setting. The name Populaire is for the famous typewriter machine by Japy Populaire. It’s a feel-good-romance, in which it’s a little predictable but with a little realistic touch to it. There is more to the plot than the romance and I liked that. I was laughing and cheering for Rose. Continue reading “Throwback Thursday Reviews May 19th”

Throwback Thursday Reviews

A Thursday theme of mine here where I’ve been posting some of my old reviews.

This week’s review is from November 2013 (Amazon review). I read this book from my overdrive.com library’s kindle books. And because I like Simon Pegg, I also borrowed the overdrive audiobook too. In this case I read with both of them to see if the audiobook was indeed an abridged edition and what was left out.

Am I the only one that listens to the audiobooks while reading the book too (paperback or kindle, etc)?

Throwback Thursday Reviews

Another Thursday meme of mine so that I can post some Old Reviews.

Girl Scout Sleepover Double Feature Movies

I’m not sure what year at was exactly, sometime during the late 1980s I think. My sister and was apart of the Girl Scouts in elementary school and our group adult leader was a little strange. We had our first sleepover at that time too. The adult let her kid pick out one of the movies, A Nightmare in Elm Street.  The other movie was not much better of a pick for 8 year olds and older (I was the older). The leader picked The Three Amigos (my favorite quotes and some YouTube video favorites bellow because I rewatched this today).

I suppose after watching a horror movie, the comedy was much needed, well mostly for me. While everyone was watching A Nightmare on Elm Street, I was hiding behind the couches because I was so scared. That movie gave me nightmares for weeks after this. This scene still gives me the creeps:

Here is 3-ish book reviews for the Sunrise Keys trilogy by Suzanne Brockmann.

🌞🔆🌞🔆

Kiss and Tell by Susanne Brockmann

Kiss and Tell, Sunrise Keys book 1

4 out of 5 Stars ★

Read and reviewed in June 2013.

I’ve read a lot of Suzanne’s older works and love them. This is about 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. It’s predictable and a little outdated. Marshall Devlin is a very likeable hero. I liked Leila Hunt just at times she can be so annoying. There constant fighting is a bit overboard. I thought it was only just cute that Marshall helped Leila find her New-Years-Kiss-Ninja.
