The Book Courtship Tag

The Book Courtship Tag

The Book Courtship Tag

A Book and Two Cups of Tea tagged me for this, sorry it’s taken so long to get to it.

Phase 1: Initial Attraction. A book that you bought because of the cover?

A Monster Calls Patrick NessA Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.

I got the Candlewick; Reprint edition (September 27, 2011) Kindle edition back in September of 2015. I thought this would be the perfect October read. It turned out to be more than just a great October mood read. Loved the graphics and that’s why I bought this copy.

Phase 2: First Impressions. A book that you got because of the summary?

There was two books where I liked the summary, but then realized that I was tricked!!!: The Next Best Thing (Gideon’s Cove #2) by Kristan Higgins and Fools Rush In by Kristan Higgins. Notice that they’re both by Kristan Higgins?

CAUTION: Don’t be duped (like I was) by these summaries. Continue reading “The Book Courtship Tag”

Back to the Future Tag

Back to the Future - #BTTF2015

Back to the Future Tag

I was tagged by Getting Through Anxiety. She made up her own BTTF Tag and questions here. (This tag was back in February and I really apologize for the delay but life got in the way). Great questions here and I like B.G.’s answers.

1.) Name a movie/book/show that makes you want to go back in time when you were younger and enjoy it all over again!

Baby Sitters Club Logo

The Baby-Sitter’s Club series by Ann M. Martin. Fear Street series by R. L. Stine. These books were favorites of mine. I didn’t read the entire series but I read a lot of them and really loved them.

Fear Street The New Girl RL Stine

2.) What’s your favorite sci-fi and or fantasy book/show/movie?

Back to the Future was the first Sci-Fi movie I watched. I like those movies but they aren’t my top favorite.

LotR Tolkien

Lord of the Ring and The Hobbit books were my first Sci-Fi/ Fantasy books. I read those before I knew about the movies. They are my favorite and the books are on my list this year to reread. After over 2 decades of reading them, I’m interested to seeing how I’ll like the books the second time around. Continue reading “Back to the Future Tag”

3 Days 3 Quotes – Day 3 and Blazing Saddles

3 Days 3 Quotes

3 Days 3 Quotes

Ok I have been tagged a lot so far this year so please stand by. I am trying my best to get through them. I was tagged by 4 lovely bloggers and these lovely 4 bloggers who tagged me are Giovanna @Book Coma, Shivalika @Whimsy Journals, B.G. @Getting Through Anxiety, and Beth @The Books Are Everywhere.

The Rules:

1) Thank the person who nominated you
2) Post a quote for three consecutive days
3) Nominate three new bloggers each day (not going to do this for Day 3. Unless you reader wants to do this tag the I Tag You. Just remember that I nominated you.)

My Gramps and I watched Mel Brooks’s film Blazing Saddles on Tuesday. All of Mel’s movies are fun to watch I think and I highly recommend watching any of them (History of the World, Part 1, Young Frankenstein, and Spaceballs are my favorites).

Now I know that I only have to do one quote for this post, but

Day 3 & Blazing Saddles

Mel Brooks - Blazing Saddles

Blazing Saddles is a 1974 Western Comedy and satire to all those Spaghetti Western Movies (a lot of Western actor name dropping and stereotypes in this movie).

Now with all of Mel Brooks movies, there is a lot of good fun quotes to be found. There’s even scenes like in this movie where sound effects of farting noises is only needed. Though that scene is gross it’s still is pretty funny so here’s the YouTube link for that Fart Scene.

The Quotes:

To describe all the Johnson’s that are the council members of Rock Ridge town:

Mel Brooks - Blazing Saddles

(Besides the fact that they all have the same last names, which hints at inbreeding.)

Jim: [consoling Bart] “What did you expect? “Welcome, sonny”? “Make yourself at home”? “Marry my daughter”? You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons.”

Because of Mel Brooks:
