TBR Tuesday

Peanut and Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld

Today was a pretty lazy slow day. I did get some reading done, though it’s never enough to the amount of time I wish for. I did find time to read outside today. Reading outside has been a goal this past week and I’ve been really looking forward to this me-time. It’s been a real refreshing thing that has started to uplift my mood, along with the fact that it’s summertime, one of my favorite seasons. Peanut and I highly recommend finding some time to read outside.

So reading. What shall I read?… Well of course thanks to my habit of reading more than one book at a time, I am currently reading 3 booksContinue reading “TBR Tuesday June 28th”

Throwback Thursday Reviews: Carol Snow

Throwback Thursday Reviews

A Thursday theme of mine here where I’ve been posting some of my old reviews.

This week is from a book I read and reviewed back in February 2014.

Getting Warmer by Carol Snow

Getting Warmer by Carol Snow

Getting Warmer in Arizona 4 out of 5 stars ★

Natalie Quakenbush is a quirky character. Even her last name is odd and is even picked on by her students behind her back (though she still knows about it). It’s a cute chick lit romance. It was just a little predictable. What I liked about this was that it centered more around the main character, Natalie. She’s 29 and fearing turning 30 (wasn’t so long ago I had those days, and my youngest sister just passed that. Made fun saying that she’s now 3 decades old). Throwback Thursday Reviews

A Thursday theme of mine here where I’ve been posting some of my old reviews.

This week is an old movie review to a French film. Watched and reviewed in November 2013.

Populaire

Populaire

5 stars ★ and loved it ♥

2012 French movie

I really loved this movie. I watched it on my kindle with Netflix streaming (on the app). It’s a romantic comedy in the late 1950’s setting. The name Populaire is for the famous typewriter machine by Japy Populaire. It’s a feel-good-romance, in which it’s a little predictable but with a little realistic touch to it. There is more to the plot than the romance and I liked that. I was laughing and cheering for Rose. Continue reading “Throwback Thursday Reviews May 19th”

Silent Sunday Nights May 15th

TCM Silent Sunday Nights

Silent Sunday Nights

Since I’ve been following Turner Classic Movie channel  more lately I have found some themes that I liked. Tonight is Silent Sunday Nights on TCM with Silent Films. Tonight is an oldie and a long one, about 3 and a half hours long. It’s the 1923 La Roue film by filmmaker Abel Gance. I’m currently watching that as I type this out (on my new phone). So far the best parts has been the written stuff, though the scene of the image on the violin was good.

La Roue

I think I like watching these late at night now in order to lull me to sleep. I think it’s the music and the black and white video that does it.

So here is what my Silent Sunday Night and weekend has been like…

Deadpool

Deadpool
Just recently purchased and watched Deadpool today. It was pretty funny. He is definitely not the typical hero, or anti-hero for that. I think I liked the jokes about Hugh Jackman and Wolverine the most. I had some good giggles there. Continue reading “Silent Sunday Nights May 15th”

Friday 56 Eliza Watson

I received this book for n ARC by the author and YA Bound Book Tours.

Here’s a quote from page 56:

“Again, this showed how brainwashed I’d been, sounding like my ex’s narcissistic personality disorder had been contagious.”
