My Throwback 90s Music Soundtrack

Making this list was really hard to do. The struggle was hard! I couldn’t limit myself to just 10 songs like my other soundtracks, but at least I didn’t exceed 15. I’m a Gen X gal and thinking up this list brought back a lot of nostalgia.

“Hunger Strike” by Temple of the Dog
Soundgaurdern and Pearl Jam together. Bliss.

Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets

Here’s another book soundtrack for you all. I’ve been rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and with that I’ve thought of making a little soundtrack from my music collection.

Black Dove by #ToriAmos

(🎧 “They don’t know that you’ve already lived on the other side of the Galaxy” 🎧) Such a magical song. Love Tori Amos too. πŸ’—

My Throwback 90s Women in Music Soundtrack

My Throwback 90s Music

Last month I made a playlist of some of the 1980’s music that I listened to. I was going to do a list of all the music for the 1990’s too, but that decade is harder for me to put into one playlist. I have one playlist on my iTunes music but many playlists for the music from the 1990’s. It’s mostly because my music taste started to really expand due to my high school and community college years. So here is one of my playlist from the 1990’s.

Women in Music

Here’s some of my favorite female performers that I really liked during the 1990’s.

Because of Lilith Fair

Liliath Fair.jpg

Lilith Fair was a concert tour and travelling music festival, founded by Canadian musician Sarah McLachlan, Nettwerk Music Group’s Dan Fraser and Terry McBride, and New York talent agent Marty Diamond. It took place during the summers of 1997 to 1999, and was revived in the summer of 2010. It consisted solely of female solo artists and female-led bands. In its initial three years, Lilith Fair raised over $10M for charity.

Water is Wide by Indigo Girls, Jewel and Sarah McLachlan

I was already a fan of a lot of these female music performers, and thanks to this festivals I found some other performers and bands to listen to.

Only Happy When it Rains by Garbage

This song is what made me a fan of this band, and they are still a favorite. Continue reading “My Throwback 90s Women in Music Soundtrack”

Wazzup Wednesday’s – Apr 13th

Wazzup Wednesday’s

A Wednesday post of a few things I liked throughout the week.

Wazzup Tori Amos

BFP20 - Tori Amos

On January 22, 2016, Tori Amos Tweeted that she will be remastering her 3rd album, Boys For Pele, for it’s 20th Anniversary. And in another tweet to go along with that announcement, added this statement:

“The newly #remastered #BoysForPele, released later this year, will include unreleased material + #bsides, club #remixes, & more. πŸŒŸπŸŽΉπŸŽ‰ #BFP20

BFP20 - Tori Amos

Now I don’t think she’s forgotten about promising this remastered edition. She’s had posts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. But if you’ve been under a rock or oblivious of these media stuff like I have, then this is new. I didn’t realize that this was the 20th anniversary until this post on Tori’s Facebook page. In that post she reposted @NickKBlamo about how he snagged a Boys For Pele promo window board.

So now it’s been almost 3 months since the anniversary and I’m greatly anticipating these unreleased material for Boys For Pele. In the meantime, here’s a video from MTV’s Unplugged concert in 1996.

Wazzup Action Movies & Superheroes?

Deadpool movie poster

This year there is 8 Superhero movies that I know of that is being released in 2016 (2 of are already in theaters, 6 of them are Marvel or DC Comics).

That’s an awful lot to keep track of for this year, not to mention the other big movies that are being released. So here’s a list of those Superhero movies and others that have and will be released this year. (Plus I made another list on IMDb.com)

The DC Comics movies are:

  • Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice
  • Suicide Squad

Marvel movies are:

Pride And Prejudice Unabridged Jane Austen.jpg

I’ve still got this darn cold but I am starting to get better. It’s just this darn cough and nose that needs to clear up. So my reading and watching the TCM movies has been a little slow. Last TGIF post I mentioned that I had 4 books that I was currently reading. This week it’s just been the one book by Jane Austen.

Currently Reading

➑ Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Reread. I’m in chapter 13 and the audio with the book reading has been going pretty good. The iTunes audiobook is read by Emma Messenger and I think she’s been doing pretty good with all the characters.

So I’ve been reading the book with (and sometimes without) listening to the audiobook. It has me thinking about all the other things I listen to while I read my books. As for Jane Austen, it helps when the music is soft but with a female edge. I’m thinking of Tori Amos, Adele, and even The Civil Wars or Mumford & Sons has the exception, just as long as it’s not going to distract me from reading Austen’s books.

So being that Jane Bennet and I both have colds right now, here’s Tori Amos with “Caught a Light Sneeze.”

Monday Mayhem

Monday are you trying to kill me with all this chaos? Babysitting and plus now my Gramps and Mom are still doing pretty bad with their cold viruses. And then there’s all those ridiculous tv shows and the TCM movie to watch (the movie I’ll have to watch late tonight for a post.

I definitely need to take Garfield‘s advise and look at the brighter side of things. So here’s some…

Positive Things of My Monday

Music that can calm me.

When I first started these Monday Mayhem posts, I said that Tori Amos has always been my go-to-music-gal whenever I’m in a bleah mood. And so here’s the latest from Tori Amos.

Finding the joy and fun in just the little things.

My 5 year old niece and I spent most of the day playing… we did some sidewalk chalk drawings (which some got rinsed off because of the sprinklers), writing some Get Well Cards for Gramps and Mom. Continue reading “Monday Mayhem Feb 8th”
