TBR Tuesday

In a post from Monday, I listed off a bunch of books that I would like to read this month. (The TBR picture is a photo from my bookshelf).

For Tuesday’s TBR post, I’m taking two of those books and will list pros and cons in whether I should read it.

Comments and opinions are most helpful, even if you haven’t read either books.

Plus, since I’ve started making these posts every week, I’ve noticed that it’s helped me in picking out from my tbr pile for which book I’d like to read next.

Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid

First up is Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid.

The Pros:

• I’ve got about 100 pages left to read.
• It’s a library book.
• It’s a modern satire to Jane Austen’s book, and I love Jane Austen.
• Author is new to me, and I have been enjoying her writing style.

The Cons:

• I was reading this back in October and now I’ve forgotten what’s going on with the plot where the bookmark is at.
• I’m going to have to backtrack a little now to refresh what’s going on in the book.
• It’s apart of a series written by various artists, so I’ll be tempted to read some of their books too… which could also be on the Pros list since I’ve got one of them already from the library waiting to be read. But that also just adds more books to my TBR list.

VERSUS

First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen

The second book is First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen, which is the continuation from the Garden Spells and the Waverley family’s story.

Pros:

• It’s a Netgalley ARC book.
• This will be my 5th book to read by this author.
• I just read Garden Spells, so the story and the characters are still fresh in my mind.
• The ARC copy is on my kindle, which is easier to travel around with than a hardcover copy.

Cons:

• The ARC copy is on my Kindle, so distractions are bound to happen, like going on WordPress, Facebook, or just playing Candy Crush.
• 305 pages to read.
• I just read Garden Spells last week, and I’m not sure if I want to continue reading about the Waverley family just yet.
