Silent Sunday Nights
TCM channel shows Silent Films for their Silent Sunday Nights (and then a foreign film for their Imports). Tonight they were showing some films with Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle. I was able to catch the one that he wrote and directed, Fool’s Luck. Here’s a clip that I found and really liked.
My Silent Sunday Night
I’m babysitting my niece so I have to actually wake up earlier than I’m used to. So I’m going to make this post short by listing some Blogathons that I’ve seen and am thinking of participating in.
Blogathons
The 2016 Begorrathon.
When? Now until the end of the month.
Who? This blogathon is hosted by Niall at The Fluff is Raging and Cathy at 746 Books.
First up is the Begorrathon where I’ve been trying to read Maria Edgeworth’s Castle Rackrent. I thought this could be a quick read but it’s not looking like that. I am hoping to finish the book for this month and for the blogathon. The many people that have reviewed and put in their thoughts for this blogathon have been great. The founders of this have set everyone’s posts here at this site. BTW on Nail’s Begorrathon Week 2 Update, the picture with Maria Doyle Kennedy will direct you to a post I made where I named 3 artists with Irish Heritage – March Artist Spotlight.
Once Upon a Time X.
When? March 21st to June 21st.
Who? This “Quest” is hosted by Stainless Steel Droppings.
This looks like a fun event. For one, this blogger is new to me. I found him through Lynn’s post about this challenge. After viewing some of his posts and the two other events he hosts I might keep him bookmarked to see what else he posts. As for this event, he started this 10 years ago so happy anniversary to the blogger.
“This is a reading and viewing and gaming event that encompasses four broad categories: Fairy Tale, Folklore, Fantasy and Mythology, including the seemingly countless sub-genres and blending of genres that fall within this spectrum.”
It looks like there’s many sort of goals that can be done for this. I’m hoping to at least read one or more books and of course I’ll be viewing a lot of stuff too. And he requests that we post our reviews here.
Beyond the Cover Blogathon.
When? April 8th to the 10th.
Who? This blogathon is hosted by Liz of Now, Voyaging and Kristina of Speakeasy.
What? This one is simple but there’s so many entries so far and they don’t want duplicate films, so I need to pick very soon then I guess. They ask that we choose a movie that’s been adapted on to film. And it looks like we should choose one where we’ve read the book so that we can compare the movie to the book.
Brooding About the Brontës
When? April 18th to the 24th.
Who? This event is hosted by Girl with her head in a book.
What? Conversations of the Brontë sisters. Every day she will have various topic questions for us.
Kindness Challenge
When? Starts May 9th and continues on for a total of 7 weeks.
Who? This event is hosted by Niki @ The Richness of a Simple Life.
What? #RevofKindness “Kindness Challenge: Focus on kindness for 7 weeks following the guide below. At the end of each week, incorporate a post on your blog with your thoughts on the week’s kindness focus. Use photos, a poem, a journal entry, a video, a write a song, whatever you feel comfortable using to express your reflection of the week. Not a blogger? No worries! Use your social media accounts to spread the kindness!”
Animals in Film Blogathon.
When? May 26th to the 28th.
Who? This blogathon is hosted by Crystal at In the Good Old Days of Classic Hollywood.
What? My dog Peanut would probably give me the cold shoulder if I didn’t participate in this event. Now I just need to pick which film I want to watch with starring any sort of Animal (“as long as it’s a living, breathing creature and played a prominent part in a film” and no cartoons). And Crystal doesn’t want any duplicates so it looks like I’ll need to choose soon before all the good ones are taken.
The Royalty on Film Blogathon.
When? June 2nd to the 5th.
Who? This blogathon is hosted by Emily at The Flapper Dame.
What? This one looks like fun for me. We pick one movie that hasn’t already been chosen that is fictional with a Royalty theme. Emily is hosting this during the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. And if I’m not sure about what Royalty themed movie to watch (highly unlikely), Emily has listed off some suggestions and it’s a really nice list that I recommend seeing.
The Reel Infatuation Blogathon.
When? June 13th to 17th.
Who? This blogathon is hosted by Font & Frock and Ruth at Silver Screenings.
What? This blogathon is asking to talk about those crushes I have on fictional characters from film, television and literary loves. So I’m looking forward to thinking about what character loves that I want to post about along with seeing what others have to say.
Classic Movie History Project
When? August 5th to the 10th, 2016.
Who? Fritzi of Movies, Silently, Aurora of Once Upon a Screen and Silver Screenings are exploring the history of classic film.
What? “The Classic Movie History Project 2016 will run for six days, August 5-10, with two topics per day. Each host will facilitate four topics, all of which fit into three broad categories:
The People hosted by Aurora at Once Upon a Screen
The System hosted by Fritzi at Movies, Silently
The Films hosted by yours truly
See? Isn’t this fab? We’ll get into topic details below, but first, the Fine Print.”
